If it’s your first time booking a catered ski chalet holiday, you’ll probably wonder what kind of food you’ll be served. But more importantly: is it good?
At our luxury ski chalets in the French Alps, you’ll find a host couple who cook meals on par with those of a gourmet restaurant and take great care of their guests for the duration of their winter holiday.
The experienced couple who will cook and serve your food are trained in hospitality and have completed catering or cookery courses, as well as food hygiene courses. They take time to plan and practice cooking the season’s new menu each year. Many hosts return to the same chalet for various seasons, so they know the chalet and area well.
Upon your arrival, the hosts will serve you a welcome glass of Prosecco or Kir Royale accompanied by Canapés. Throughout the week, they will cook breakfast, homemade afternoon cakes, and a three-course dinner for six days. On the couple’s day off, you will be able to have a self-service continental breakfast. Most guests choose to head out to one of the local restaurants that night.
To sum it up, you will be served:

Afternoon tea: carrot cake with tea and coffee
Dinner: spiced roasted vegetable kebabs with a lemon and coriander glaze and harissa dip. Followed by lamb tagine with Moroccan spiced potatoes, yoghurt, and flaked almonds;. Followed by a slice of orange blossom cheesecake.
Below is another sample day of food at an Alpinium chalet.
Breakfast: scrambled eggs with smoked salmon (plus many non-cooked options)
Afternoon tea: Victoria sponge with tea and coffee
Dinner: Thai pumpkin and sweet potato soup, dressed with sunflower seeds and a coconut milk drizzle. Followed by Thai duck Massaman curry, accompanied by Jasmine rice and braised mange tout. Followed by rosewater and pistachio kulfi with griddled mango.
Curious about our vegan options? Let’s look at a vegan sample menu.
Breakfast: vegan sausage and beans
Afternoon tea: Victoria sponge
Dinner: oriental mushroom salad with spring onions and coriander. Followed by red Thai curry with haricot verts, mange tout, and Jasmine rice. Followed by sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce.
One night a week, the hosts will cook a traditional Savoyard menu. For instance, you could be served raclette (or tartiflette), followed by lemon sorbet with Genpi. Raclette is a typical Savoyard baked dish, which features local cheeses, meat or mushrooms, and cream. It’s served with fresh bread. Tartiflette is the vegan alternative and it’s equally delicious.
As you can see, the menus are extremely varied and refined. The food served in Alpinium chalets is on the same level as that of a quality restaurant.
You won’t miss going out to an eatery in the evening. And why would you?
