Montchavin is possibly the prettiest resort village of the La Plagne ski area. This contemporary chalet has been constructed in keeping with the cute cobbled alpine town in which it sits. It is a favourite chalet amongst our guests with many families and groups coming back year after year. The chalet, laid out over 4 floors, has views over the piste and village as well as the Tarentaise Valley towards Mont Blanc. Access to both La Plagne or Les Arcs ski area is just 100 mts away on the nearest lift. By the time it takes to slip your skis on you could have wlked it but take the choice! You can ski back right to the door most weeks of the season from intermediate level and above.
On the ground floor there are two ensuite twin rooms. On the first floor is the kitchen, dining area and lounge with a fireplace and doors to the balcony sharing fabulous views of the piste with the hot tub and sauna located in the top garden. Wrap around glass windows give a fabulous view of the ski run back home. On the next floor is two rooms, a quad with 2 sets of twins separated by the bathroom, ideal for a family and another twin ensuite. On the top floor, Chalet Snowflake offers another spacious family room with 4-5 single beds. All twins can be adapted for couples by pushing the beds together.
Hot Tub and Sauna: From the main living space there is a small garden with a large hot tub and barrel sauna where you can have a glass of wine or beer whilst watching the mountains turn a beautiful sunset pink.
Chalet Snowflake has underground secure parking for 2 cars (book in advance €100 per place, not suitable for vehicles over 1.8m). With ski-in-ski-out possible most of the season, the main gondola only a few minutes walk away and an apres-ski bar close by, the chalet really is situated in a one of the best spots in Montchavin.

Hi, I’m Heather, a 28 year old lady from Glasgow and I cannot wait to embrace a role that perfectly combines my passion for skiing with my love of hospitality. After dedicating most of my 20's to qualifying as an Architect, I’m incredibly excited to live in the beauty of the Alps this season and be your hostess with the mostest at Chalet Snowflake alongside my partner, Russell! I’m committed to creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere where you can really feel at home.
Skier or snowboarder? Skiing for the win!
Passions and interests? I’m a true adventurer at heart. I love hiking, traveling and getting out into nature. When I’m not outdoors, you’ll find me cooking up something delicious, or expressing my creativity through painting and drawing.
Favourite country visited? After visiting 15 countries this year during a 5-month backpacking trip across Latin America, Argentina and Peru have become two of my favourite destinations. That being said, the French Alps will always be my happy place.
Favourite Resort? Les Arcs is a personal favourite!
Favourite cocktail? Passion Fruit Mojito and a Caipirinhia.
Hi, I’m Russell from Kilmarnock, Scotland. As a qualified architect, passionate skier and food lover, I’m excited to be trading in the office for the Alps this season! I can’t wait to ‘Russell’ up some hearty, delicious meals for my guests, satisfying their hunger for both great food and the breathtaking mountains. This will be my second season as a Chalet Chef/Host, following a fantastic experience in Austria and I’m determined to make this year even more special. I can’t wait to hit the slopes and enjoy those perfect blue-sky, powder-filled days! ⛷️
Skier or snowboarder? Skier – I started skiing in 2015 and it quickly became an annual holiday tradition.
Passions and interests? I love exploring new places, surfing, skiing, hiking, cooking, drawing and I'm always up for trying any sport.
Favourite country? That’s a tough one! I’ll be joining the Alpinium team after spending five months traveling across Latin America, from skiing on the Peruvian sand dunes to exploring the snow-covered wilderness of Patagonia, I’m still undecided. Ask me again in the chalet!
Favourite resort? A family favorite is SkiWelt in Austria, where my skiing journey began.
Favourite cocktail? I love a Moscow Mule.

The Montchavin gondola is just a few minutes walk from the chalet and takes you into Les Coches, from where you can access La Plagne or take a gentle 150m ski to the Vanoise Express from where the vast Paradiski® ski area beckons. La Plagne is linked to Les Arcs and Peisey Vallandry via the Vanoise Express, making the area into what is known as the Paradiski®; one of the largest ski terrains in Europe. “A playground with no boundaries”, with 425 skiable kilometres, 264 tracks, 3250 metres of altitude at the top of the domain. The ski schools for the area are easily accessible either in Montchavin itself or just at the top of the Les Coches cable car.
When they linked La Plagne and Les Arcs together to create Paradiski, they created the third largest skiable area in the world. La Plagne ski resort, including its linked area with Les Arcs, has over 460kms of piste across an altitude ranging from 1250m to 3250m. In 2006 the largest and fastest cable car (at the time of opening) in the world opened and linked La Plagne to Les Arcs Ski Resort creating a vast ski paradise, aptly named Paradiski®. Continuous investment has made this one of the best ski areas in the world. Our catered ski chalets are brilliantly located right in the centre of the entire area, giving you the opportunity to select skiing in Les Arcs or La Plagne on any given day. Or even both if you are quick enough!
The local ski area is made up of wide open and undemanding slopes, making this ideal beginner and intermediate skiing territory. Directly above this area is the Bellecote mountain and from here there are plenty of challenging long off piste descents from the summit at 3417m. Add in the cable car link to Les Arcs and yet another huge valley is opened up, making this ski resort one of the finest for vast and varied terrain. La Plagne is home to one of the only bobsleigh and luge tracks which was built in 1992 for the winter Olympics held in Albertville. Give it a go for an awesome adrenalin rush!
