Les Menuires Ski Resort was purpose built, constructed in the 60's and 70's and it's buildings remain one of the resort’s distinguishing features. However, newer and attractive Savoyard style properties in the surrounding suburbs have helped to soften Les Menuires’ once harsh exterior.
There is a large variety of restaurants, cafes, shops and bars in resort in a huge, recently refurbished commercial centre in Les Menuires right on the snow front, with shops, restaurants and bars, easily accessed by the free bus service which runs several times each hour. Les Menuires also has a modern leisure complex with swimming pool, saunas, hammam, Jacuzzis and solarium. The village of Bruyères is also just a short bus journey down the mountain and in addition to the local shops, cafes and restaurants, the village has a cinema and ice rink. With a variety of snack bars, après bars and restaurants there's something for everyone. Head up the mountain and you'll find a number of cosy restaurants serving a range of items and sunny terraces to enjoy the views of the mountains.
There is a host of other winter activities to try from sledging to calming yoga sessions, or a rush of adrenaline on a snowmobile, local specialities to sample, festive events throughout the season and a fantastic atmosphere. The free shuttle bus links all areas of the resort, including Reberty, Val Thorens and even down to St Martin de Belleville which is definitely worth a visit with its' charming streets and church.
Whilst Les Menuires is not known for it’s après, there's plenty of bars both on and off the mountain. A good spot for some après ski is at Roc Seven on the mountain which has a DJ and musicians every afternoon. At La Croisette, there are a number of bars to choose from such as Jacks and Le Challenge which often have live music or theme nights throughout the season, as well a happy hour each day. If you fancy dancing on the tables, head to La Folie Douce in Val Thorens however check when the lifts close as it is a short but expensive taxi journey back to resort!
