One of the earliest resorts to open and latest to close each winter, Val Thorens sits at the top of the vast Three Valleys ski area at an altitude of 2,300m. It’s the highest ski resort in Europe in fact! With 600km of slopes to enjoy, it’s the ideal base for a ski holiday!
A largely pedestrianised resort, Val Thorens has everything you need for the perfect ski holiday. Although famed for its bar and music scene, parties and ‘The Strip’, (a road with bars each side which get very lively at night), Val Thorens prides itself on being a family ski resort and has been awarded the Famille Plus label adhering to 6 commitments for welcoming young and old alike! You can easily steer clear of the partying university students and have a quiet family ski holiday or dip your toes into the scene once or twice to experience ski resort nightlife at its’ best!
There is a wide range of activities on offer other than skiing in Val Thorens, including the Cosmojet sledding run, La Bee Zipline, the Snowtubing Moon Xperience, the Fun Park, the Snow Groomer Experience, Snowmobiling, Husky Sledding, Qi Gong, Swimming and lots of Wellness spas.
However the skiing is really its' main draw of course. The Three Valleys will delight all skiers and especially families, combining the pleasure and ease of skiing with children in a well groomed ski area. The Three Valleys (Les Trois Vallées) is the largest ski playground in the World and Val Thorens is an outstanding ski resort combining excellent snow quality. The 3 Valleys offers magnificent skiing for all levels. Neighbouring world-class resorts such as Méribel, Courchevel and Les Menuires, Val Thorens arguably offers the best high altitude skiing.
